St Michael's Lodge 10639

 

St Michaels Lodge No. 10639 was formed over 8 years ago. Our opening night at the Falcon Hotel in Bude was attended by some 200 Brothers including 2 Grand Primos, 4 Past Grand Primos, The Grand Secretary, The Grand Chamberlain and many Provincial Grand Officers from North Cornwall, North Devon, Essex and Scotland as well as Banner Lodge Officers.

 

The Lodge flourished from that memorable opening night and very soon outgrew our premises in the Falcon Hotel.  At this time we moved to a local country club where we met for some 3 years prior to the change of management at the club. We then moved to the Bude Haven Hotel. One of our Brothers was the resident barman on Lodge nights, City Waiter with a difference. 

 

In September 2010 there was a change of ownership at the Bude Haven Hotel which resulted in us having to find new premises. We now meet at the Tree Inn Stratton, Bude.


Various Brothers affiliated to us from near and far, in fact 2 of our members live in London.

 

We have initiated a considerable number of Brothers and now have a very strong Lodge. Over the last 6 years we have raised three R.O.H.'s, three K.O.M.'s and five Primos. In 2011 the Lodge has 7 members attending PGL, 5 collars (including The Provincial Grand Primo of The North Cornwall Province, Immediate Past Provincial Grand Primo, Deputy Provincial Grand Primo, Provincial Grand Tyler, Provincial Grand Secretary and Provincial Grand Treasuurer) and 1 delegate.

Unfortunately we have lost 2 hard working members of our Lodge, the late Brothers Tim Edwards and Stan Molaneux, both primos.  Brother Tim was an excellent entertainments officer (he was well known in all the hostelries in the surrounding area) and Brother Stan our treasurer. Both were given full, very well attended, Buffalo Funerals.
 

The well known ex snooker world champion, Peter Ebdon, came to Bude and in one night raised a considerable sum for the testicular cancer charity.

The Lodge meets at the The Tree Inn, Stratton, Bude, EX23 9DA every Sunday at 7.30pm with the exception of Bank Holiday weekends. Any fellow buffaloes wishing to attend will receive a warm and fraternal reception.
